Ok guys, I know some of you can't be online too much so I made this thread to find out one thing... What the hell are we going to get Heather as a coming home gift! Now I was going to list a bunch of things for us to try and pull our money for but instead, right now I need to know how much money you feel comfortable giving out for this kind of thing and then we can go from there on what we can get her.

Also, go ahead and mention things you might want to get it for.

I don't think I'll go higher than $50. I'm trying to save up.

My idea was that we could get her a Wii that she could play Xenoblade on. I'd hate to see someone spend so much just to play one game.

I'm open to other ideas of course.

When I mentioned this idea before, what I was trying to get across was that we should all make something creative for her, not straight up go buy something from an electronics store. I'm still brainstorming of what to do exactly but I wanted to clarify what my intent was.

While I like the spirit of that idea, I worry about my ability to contribute something worthwhile to it...

Well I hate to break it to you, but when Heather heard of this idea she thought it was going to be us putting our money together to get her something cool and meaningful. I really don't know what we could do as a creative front though.

SOOOOOO....it's looking like we'll be going with my idea? I don't know if Nick wants to contribute if that's what we do.

Do you have any good places to get the Wii Jeeves? If possible I know she'd want a red one. If possible.

Well you can try looking here:
http://www.ebay.co.u...PAL-/108701696#

Or I found this, but it's for a white one:
http://www.110220vol...-Palsystem.html

You might have a problem with the video signal. Some TVs convert it automatically, others need a PAL to NTSC converter. Maybe I'm not looking for this correctly, but the only ones I can find are hundreds of dollars.

Your best bet might be to simply buy a Wii locally and hack it.

I don't think it's very hard to do or to find out how to do. If you import a Wii and don't get a signal converter, you risk it not working on your TV.

Whatever you do, you should do it well enough in advance that you can test it.

Devin and I worked together to mod his Nintendo Wii before and, to be honest, it's even easier than hacking a 360. It's so easy and simple, in fact, I could easily walk JRRD through the entire process over Skype. The process is just shoving some files on a SD card, inserting the card, load and install things on the card, remove the card, and then repeat those steps until you have a softmodded Wii. Doesn't require you to open the Wii or anything. In summary, the option is easy and viable.

My question is, does she REALLY want a 2nd Wii around the house that's only use is going to be playing just one game? I don't mind at all putting down money for the Pal Red Wii but I want to be sure it's something she's really been wanting. Otherwise, I'd say buy a local Red Wii and hack it or just do the Wii you already have.

I'm pretty certain she doesn't want her main Wii hacked. I wouldn't want mine hacked, either. She's said before that she was planning on importing a PAL Wii for Xenoblade. My only concern with the PAL Wii - just to say it one more time - is that there's a good chance it will require an adapter that costs, to the best of my knowledge, hundreds of dollars.

She does want a hacked Wii. I think this is a good gift we can all give her. Honestly the other options are a bit expensive. But hey, if you guys want to help get her this...

Unfortunately, if it came to that, you would be paying for most of it champ. That's almost engagement ring territory.

Did you mean "does not"?

Also, will you comment already on the possible need for an adapter that I've been trying to get your attention about...? What are your thoughts?

She DOES.

I don't know anything about an adapter though. What will be easier here?

*double post*

Ok, plan B for now. So far the PAL Wii is number one BUT! Heather has been insisting on us asking her question so that we may be able to come up with further ideas. SHE DEMANDS IT! So it must be done...

Quote

Just throw a bunch of random ass questions in about stuff I like. I won't have any idea what I'm getting! No hopes involved!

Give me like ten questions. I don't care if one or even nine of them are relevant. I won't know. I just want things to be the best they can be without me looking back thinking it could be so much better/easier if I just said something.

*Triple Post*
I asked her some questions. I think we are the right track with the Wii. I asked her in a sly way if she would want a new bundled console or something. She said yes, and then on her own without me saying anything said she would really like a European/hacked Wii to play those Euro games. Here is portion of that convo. J=me H=Heather

J: What if we got you a new console bundle?
H: Fuck yeah. :dfs
J: Any preference on which console you'd like extra of?
H: A Wii.
J: Really? Not a 360 so we can all play it at once with no split screen?
H: We both want games from Europe. Unless you lost interest?
H: Not anymore. Unless we had better internet.
H: We could always play Mario Kart Wii with two Wiis. No splitscreen.
J: No but this is for you! Anyway...
H: I care about both of us. But I still fucking want Xenoblade and the other two games.
J: 1. Simply sending our love?
H: Not sure if Fatal Frame 4 was released anywhere but Japan, but I'd play that too. I think I need a hacked Wii for that because it has a fanmade English patch put on.
H: You guys do that everyday. :U
H: What!
H: I want Fatal Frame 4. ):
H: But I don't want to lose my Wii with all the stuff on it just in case after hacking it. But European Wiis probably don't play it since I'm almost sure it's Japanese only.

She also mentioned wanting Tron Bonne. If we don't do the Wii I think it should be Tron Bonne.

Okay, then I think a red hacked Wii will be the best thing. Or Tron Bonne if we want to split the paying more evenly. :x

And I hope you mixed that question in with other ones well enough.

I did, there were 10 other questions and SHE brought up the Wii thing. Not me. So we are good. I say we try to find a red Wii but whatever is less expensive. Nick will have to walk me through the hacking process.
