I thought this deserved its own thread for some reason. I'll accept the abuse.

Yeah, when you showed me this I thought it was some horrible fan made thing. Trying to infuse this type of "Metal" music with Final Fantasy music... it's just horrible! I can't believe this is on an official Final Fantasy soundtrack. I haven't been pleased with an FF game in a long time but the one thing I could always count on was them having really great soundtracks. This is terrible and the worse part about it is that they decided to bring the chocobos down with them. Poor chocobos.
Bring back the Black Mages please.

This was fairly upsetting. I think I may need to slit my wrists a bit....
With that being said, I do realise that Nobuo is no longer with them now. I'm pretty sure he's moved over to Mistwalker/Sakaguchi. I could be wrong. But I'm positive, this cannot be his doing.
I think it's also time I admit I'm ready to RAGE QUIT the series now. >.>

It says on his Wikipedia he hasn't had anything to do with it, but maybe it's just not updated. The last thing he's done with Square is FFXIV. He didn't do any of the music for XIII, and left Square back in 2004. Also, Wiki says that it's being mostly composed by the guy who took over as lead composer to Square back in 2004 when Nobuo left, and the one responsible for XIII's entire score, Mr. Masashi Hamauzu. Sadly, Square owns the rights to the scores from Nobuo, so the trademark chocobo, attack, and crystal themes are theirs to toy with how they choose.
This makes me feel a little better, if it's true. >.>

I'm pretty sure that's the case Mel. At least I hope it is or it's a sad day in gaming music.
