For those into the whole Zelda timeline thing, Hyrule Historia has apparently confirmed the real order. A triple timeline split at OoT.

1. The Hero of Time succeeds, is sent back as a child. --> Majora's Mask
2. The Hero of Time succeeds, adult time. --> Wind Waker
3. Hero of Time fails. --> LTTP

So basically...

Quote

Skyward Sword
|
Minish Cap
|
Four Swords
|
Ocarina of Time (Split in to three time lines)

A: Where Hero of Time Fails

B: Where Hero of Time Wins (sent 7yr back)

C: Where Hero of Time Wins (present)

A

Link to the Past
|
Oracles
|
Link's Awakening
|
Zelda 1
|
Zelda 2 Link's Adventure

B

Majora's Mask
|
Twilight Princess
|
Four Swords Adventures

C

Wind Waker
|
Phantom Hourglass
|
Spirit Tracks

This is what's going around since the book was released but a few people have confirmed it. I think I like this. Except I kinda had (preferred) the idea that where ever Link's Awakening was, it was the last in that time. But at least this makes sense. I really need this book. ):

Yeesh, with all these timelines it sounds like some comic book stuff going on here! Very cool that they officially put it in order though.

It tooks decades but we finally have a canon timeline. Also, I agree JRRD. That definitely is some comic book shit right there.

Wooow. I heard that Nintendo had an official timeline locked away somewhere, but I never thought it would be released to the public. This matches up perfectly with what I had in mind for the 3D games, but it's the other games that always made things hazy. I never saw a triple timeline coming, but it does the trick.

I'd especially love to read about what happened between Link's failure in OoT and the events of LttP.

EDIT: Also I'm curious about how the Oracle games fit in relation to one another. Maybe the question would be answered if I played further into those games, but...do they happen one after another and the order is of no consequence? Or does only one of those games occur? Or do they occur simultaneously in crazy parallel dimensions?? And isn't there another ending if you link the games up?

I was just reading about this whole thing too. It makes so much more sense now, and actually makes me want to go back and play every single game available in Sequence A then B then C. I officially got my copy of Skyward Sword today, so it'll be super interesting to see how it actually starts the whole storyline.

I thought there were a few other games, but they don't appear on the list. Perhaps I'm wrong? Also, Link 2 features Zelda as the sister to Link. Does that mean that whole timeline makes Zelda the sister? Or am I reading too much into it?

If you mean the CDi Zelda games, they aren't canon. :user

And which is Link 2? If you mean Zelda 2, they kiss at the end of that game so I don't think they're related.
